Hayden Johnston (He/Him/His),
Registered Clinical Counsellor

Hayden is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and he holds a Masters of Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University. Hayden has been counselling for the past 7 years and has a variety of experience working in residential treatment, high school, non-profit, and First Nation settings. Through his education and experience, Hayden has developed a humble wisdom that he brings to his work, meeting individuals where they are in life and supportively walking alongside of them in their journeys of self-discovery and personal growth. Hayden’s approach is person-centred and he is versed in DBT, CBT, Meaning Therapy, and other modalities. His focus areas are anxiety, addiction, depression, trauma/PTSD, life transitions, mens issues, and relationships/attachment.
Driven by compassion and a search for life meaning, Hayden started his helping journey over 10 years ago, volunteering as a mentor for Indigenous youth in Downtown Eastside Vancouver. This is where he discovered a passion for doing what he calls ‘heart work’, which led to him completing his Masters degree in Counselling Psychology, and counselling in a variety of settings for the last 7 years. Hayden has experience working in residential treatment, high school, and non-profit environments, and he is comfortable working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds.

His focus areas are anxiety, addiction, depression, trauma/PTSD, life transitions, mens issues, and relationships/attachment. He takes a person-centred approach to his work, believing everyone already holds the inner-wisdom they need to grow, and he acts as a non-judgmental guide to help individuals discover this wisdom leading to personal transformation. He also believes it his responsibility to be a model for clients and show up fully for them, which is why he actively continues his own lifelong healing journey and therapy training. Hayden has additional training and experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), meaning therapy, Hakomi Method, Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychedelic psychotherapy, non-violent communication, mindfulness, and Indigenous healing practices. In his personal life, Hayden likes travelling, cooking, and spending time with family.
