Lorna Demedeiros (She/Her/Hers),
Registered Social Worker
Lorna is accepting new clients at this time.
Lorna Demedeiros is a Registered Social Worker (MSW). She has a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. She is also a certified ComplexTrauma/Child Sexual Abuse therapist. She has worked with children, teens and their families since 2013 in psychiatric hospital, government, and clinical settings. She firmly believes the connection between our mind and our body is pivotal.
She uses Attachment theory to guide her understanding of relationships and believes that everything from in utero to the present moment informs how we show up in connection with others. She is trained in EMDR, Synergetic Play Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and others. Her approach to therapy doesn’t always involve a lot of talking but rather doing.
Lorna has witnessed children discover their inner superpowers, and this is what drives her to do what she does – “Our littlest human beings are some of the most resilient, empathic, and eloquent people that I have worked with”.
Lorna is here to walk with clients in their healing journey but to also inject humour and laughter into therapy when there is room for it. She has a direct but kind approach and loves to help clients to be the best version of themselves.
She enjoys working with children, teenagers, young adults, and their families. She also has worked and enjoys working with BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA, veterans, first responders, new mothers, and couples.
Lorna is an avid learner, she is always exploring new trainings and the latest developments in research. She also loves to share the latest information about brain development with her clients. . She is a big proponent of collaborating with clients to combine areas of expertise and navigate the path to an integrated life together.
When she is not seeing clients, she is parenting her own 3 young children. She enjoys indoor climbing, and playing board and video games in her spare time.
