Sarah Lewis (She/Her/Hers),
Student counsellor
Sarah is accepting new clients at this time.
Sarah is a practicum student completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, and holds a Bachelor of Health Science from Thompson Rivers University. Prior to her career change into counselling, she spent 15 years working in healthcare and education as a registered massage therapist, instructor, and program coordinator. She says, “I have had the privilege of hearing the stories of the people I have worked with and have watched their persistence to improve amid chaos and heartache. I have been blessed to witness extraordinary acts of courage in seemingly small moments, and I have seen these to be transformative. This led to the change in my career and the opportunity and privilege to work with you.”
Sarah uses a humanistic approach, meaning that she focuses on the person’s individual nature, the journey of self-discovery and your full potential as a person. In her work, she also utilizes positive psychology which focuses on the traits all people have to flourish, thrive and grow, even in the face of adversity. Her areas of focus include, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, infidelity, work-life balance, stress management, life transitions, self improvement, and sexual wellness.

As a counsellor, Sarah will work with you, walk beside you, and be curious together on your journey through counselling. She believes her role is to hold space for whatever you may be feeling while exploring options to move you toward the changes you are seeking for your life. Her role is never to judge, but rather to provide empathy, kindness, and encourage your growth even when you may not be able to provide that to yourself. Sarah’s goal is to create a partnership of mutual respect and trust, and then empower her clients by helping them recognize their strength and capacity.
Sarah has found that the more she learns about psychology and the human condition, the more there is to learn! She will continue to dedicate her career to further study, learning more about social justice, cultural awareness, and attachment theories.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys getting out hiking with her dog, paddleboarding, and finding new bakeries to try.
